MARUTI Udyog Ltd has posted an 11 per cent increase in vehicle sales in November, with higher demand for the Swift and Alto and exports driving growth.

Maruti sold 47,391 cars, vans and sport-utility vehicles in the domestic and overseas markets last month, compared with 42,842 sold a year ago. This included exports of 3,823 units, which is more than double the number of units exported in November last year. The company sold 43,568 vehicles in the domestic market in November. This is 6 per cent more than the domestic sales in November 2004. Maruti's volume in the domestic compact car segment (which includes the Swift, Alto, Zen and Wagon R) grew by 22 per cent during the month.

Maruti was also able to scale up the production of Swift. It sold 6,278 units of Swift in November.
