CCEA approves PowerGrid transmission system

THE Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the transmission system of PowerGrid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) associated with NTPC's Barh (3x660 MW) generation project at a total estimated cost of Rs 3,779.46 crore. This includes interest during construction (IDC) of Rs 179.41 crore.

This project will facilitate evacuation of power from the Barh generation project and its further dispersal to state power utilities of eastern, western and northern regions.

Project will be implemented by PGCIL in 45 months.
