Maharashtra PWD observes power safety week

THE Public Works Department (PWD) of the Maharashtra Government, in association with the International Copper Promotion Council (India) (ICPCI) is observing Electrical Safety Week, from December 1.
The department has been observing Electrical Safety Week for the last 3 years in association with the council.
ICPCI is an organisation promoting safety, health, environment, energy conservation and the beneficial usage of copper in the country.
"Maharashtra is one of the leading States in India in various sectors and numerous fields. Unfortunately, it also leads in the number of electric accidents. Every year approximately 1,500 people die due to electric accidents and the same number of people suffer injuries due to electric shock. Apart from this, it also causes huge loss of properties," Mr B.G. Jadhav, Chief Engineer, (electrical), PWD said, in a release issued by the council.
During this safety week, lectures relating to electrical safety by experts, workshops, exhibitions, rallies, informative booths/stalls will be organised in over 300 schools, junior colleges, villages and housing complexes in Mumbai and the State.
Electrical accessories, tools & posters, banners and information leaflets will also be distributed to the visitors.
