CII holds AIDS awareness rally in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Confederation of Indian Industry has organised an AIDS awareness rally on Saturday. Corporate leaders, representatives from NGOs, students and top government officials took part in the rally that started from People's Plaza on the Necklace Road to Sanjeevaiah Park and back.

Addressing the rally, Dr I.V. Subba Rao, Principal Secretary (Health, Medical and Family Welfare) said AIDS had become a human and global crisis of unimaginable proportions. According to an estimate, over 75 million people would be infected worldwide by 2010 and 100 million by 2020.

Mr Prabhat Pani, Co-Chairman of Corporate Social Responsibility subcommittee at CII (Southern Region), said that HIV was a big threat to sustainable social and economic development globally.
