Karnataka Handicrafts Corpn to tap corporate gifting segment

Efforts would be made to popularise the corporate gifting scheme among overseas companies as part of strategy to boost exports.

Bangalore , Dec. 4

THE Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation is to tap the corporate gifting segment to enlarge the market for its products.

The Corporation, which promotes sales through its branded store, Cauvery, would make collectors' item for companies to be used in corporate gifting.

Its Managing Director, Mr P. Ramamurthy, said that efforts would be made to popularise the corporate gifting scheme among overseas companies as part of strategy to boost exports.

The Corporation participated in major expositions in Barcelona and Dubai recently and it plans to participate in an exhibition in New York in March to extend its market reach, Mr Ramamurthy said.

He said the Corporation's exports were worth Rs 2.5 crore this year, while it has set a target of Rs 16 crore in the next five to eight years.

A 15-year corporate perspective has projected a turnover Rs 100 crore, which at present stood Rs 30 crore.

The Corporation made a profit of Rs 68 lakh.
