Plea to develop minor ports in Karnataka

Our Bureau

MANGALORE: The Coastal Karnataka Fishermen's Action Committee has urged the Government to develop 15 minor ports in the State.

Participating in the deliberations of the Fishermen's National Conference in Mangalore, Mr Pramod Madhwaraj, President of the committee, said the development of minor ports would boost fishing activities along the Karnataka coast.

Though the committee has prepared a Rs 300-crore master plan for the development of minor ports, the Government has to mobilise money for this purpose. Mr Madhwaraj also urged the Government to take up dredging activities at all the minor ports in Karnataka.
