VISVESVARAYA Technological University (VTU), in association with UGS, has announced the inauguration of the VTU-UGS PLM Centre of Excellence at the university campus in Belgaum.

"We look forward to leveraging this facility for running structured student training and certification programmes, with the long-term vision of evolving this centre into a full fledged research and consulting laboratory," said Dr K. "The VTU-UGS PLM Centre of Excellence is going to play an important role in creating an ecosystem for fostering industrial growth in India," said Mr Hans-Kurt Lubberstedt, Executive Vice-President, Asia Pacific, UGS, in a release issued by the company.

The facility will equip engineering students in the State with knowledge and skills vital to the domestic manufacturing industry. The centre is equipped with leading PLM software solutions from UGS such as NX, Solid Edge, FEMAP and NX Nastran.
