New Delhi , Dec 8

HERE'S some great news for all those who were staying away from taking a broadband connection due to high price of a PC. MTNL has tied up with HCL to offer a PC along with a broadband connection for as low as Rs 451 a month.

Consumers also have the option to go for higher-end PCs for a monthly fee of Rs 939, Rs 764, or Rs 674, depending on the configuration.

The PC, which will be available in New Delhi, was unveiled in the presence of the MTNL Executive Director, Mr A.K. Arora, and the HCL Executive Vice-President, Mr Rajendra Kumar.

"We are happy to partner with MTNL in developing this customised PC for Tri Band broadband customers. This product will allow MTNL's broadband customers to experience the power of high-speed connectivity and computing in a cost effective manner without compromising on quality. With our strong sales network across the country, we are well equipped to support MTNL's ambitious expansion plans," said Mr Kumar.

The PC prices under the offer range from Rs 18,490 to Rs 38,890 payable in instalments spread over 40 months, after which the users would have to pay only for the broadband connection.

All MTNL-HCL PCs will come with a three-year warranty. HCL Infosystems will provide free installation of Tri Band broadband for customers buying the PC.

Consumers can book the PCs through MTNL Sanchar Haats, which will also be accepting registrations for broadband connections.

The product can also be booked through select HCL Infosystems Ltd dealers and through the Web sites of HCL Infosystems and MTNL.

The PCs come with a CD drive, anti-virus software, digital colour monitor, 1,000 games, cooking recipes, and an educational tool.

The high-end PCs also have stereo speakers and an encyclopaedia.

HCL has also tied up with BSNL, but the package does not have the option of paying for the PC through monthly instalments.
