Restructuring Ion Exchange merges four regional cos Our Bureau
New Delhi , Dec. 9 ION Exchange (India) Ltd, a water solution provider, announced the merger of its four regional associate service companies into a single entity, Ion Exchange Services Ltd. With this merger, it has become the largest service company in the Indian water treatment industry. Ion Exchange now has over 600 service personnel operating through four regional offices, 14 branches and 75 territory offices across the country. The company has also extended its service operations to Nepal and Bangladesh. The consolidation of the service network is expected to bring economies of scale, more efficient resource utilisation and distribution and a uniform identity. Service revenues are also expected to increase annually by 20 per cent for the next few years. The company has set up a laboratory in Bangalore, which is certified by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories. Mr Rajesh Sharma, Managing Director, Ion Exchange India Ltd, said, "World over, including India, industry is moving towards outsourcing of services. In line with this trend, operation and maintenance business is particularly expected to grow rapidly. "Anticipating the increased requirement for services, Ion Exchange India had done backward integration through its association with the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University for a one-year advanced diploma in water quality management in 1998."
