New Delhi , Dec. 11

THIS year The Indus Entrepreneurs' (TiE) flagship event, `Entrepreneurship Unleashed', TiEcon India 2005, (December 15-16) to be held in the Capital, will have an additional day on December 14 that will see entrepreneurs face to face with potential venture capitalists from India and overseas.

The platform would be used to address the needs of foreign and Indian investors in understanding the business landscape and the domestic environment. Company showcases and deal-flow meetings featuring business plans would enable investors to shortlist the ones they would like to consider in the future for investment. The event will see over 1,000 delegates comprising entrepreneurs, law firms, financial services companies, BPO companies among the participants. Apart from bringing entrepreneurs and investors together, the conference would focus on inspiring and educating entrepreneurs and on debating aspects that impact the entrepreneurial environment and the opportunities in the Indian market. There would be parallel sessions addressing the challenges and opportunities in specific sectors such as retail, IT products and services, BPO, education, and manufacturing among others.

"Venture capital and private equity funding in India has doubled in 2005, bringing it to $2 billion and is expected to go up by 30-50 per cent in 2006,'' said Mr Saurabh Srivastava who is on the Board of Trustees of TiE.

TiE in conjunction with venture capitalist firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ) is organising the ongoing `Venture Challenge', the first national level business plan competition in India . It is targeted at both students and professionals interested in entrepreneurism as well as practicing entrepreneurs, who on winning the first prize will receive seed financing of $100,000 from DFJ to build their business. TiE is a global non-profit organisation focused on promoting entrepreneurship. It has presence through 42 chapters in nine countries.
