Airlines Deccan Lanka gets nod to launch global flights Our Bureau
Bangalore , Dec 10 DECCAN Lanka, Deccan Aviation's non-scheduled joint venture carrier in Sri Lanka, has received the island Government's green signal to launch international commercial passenger flights within the next six months. Deccan Lanka was one of the nine private airline applicants and among the six shortlisted, a company release said. Mr G.R. Gopinath's Deccan Aviation Private Ltd (India) has a minority shareholding in the venture. It is expected to operate its three A320s to Kochi, Sharjah, and Singapore. Deccan Lanka is the island nation's first private carrier and has been operating a helicopter from Colombo for the past two years as a non-scheduled charter operator. The domestic scheduled airline will be governed by the regulations and policies of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka.
