Seminar on `Kerala in global economy'

A SEMINAR on `Kerala in the global economy - Opportunities and challenges' will be held here from December 13 to 15.

The seminar is being jointly organised by Asian School of Business, Stanford Centre for International Development, Kerala Global Support Network and TiE Kerala chapter.

Prof M.N.V. Nair of Asian School of Business said here on Monday that the Kerala model of development had resulted in the State achieving high levels of life indices that are on par with developed societies. The focus of the seminar will be on how to build on this base to improve incomes and living standards to that of developed economies.

Mr Arun M. Kumar of Kerala Global Support Network said the mission of his organisation is to contribute to the development of Kerala by promoting entrepreneurship and encouraging specific activities to enhance computer and Internet access in schools.

As part of the initiative to enhance computer education, the organisation, along with American India Foundation has provided $1 lakh for computer labs in 10 schools in Thiruvananthapuram. Besides, a joint initiative with the Department of Education commenced in June this year.
