Reliance Infocomm golf tourney on Dec 17

RELIANCE Infocomm Ltd will hold its first Reliance Infocomm Invitation Cup Golf Tournament on December 17.

The tournament will see participation from Hyderabad's top corporate leaders and distinguished people; the golfers will tee off at the lush green golf course in Bolarum, near Hyderabad.

The Chief Executive Officer of Reliance Infocomm, Andhra Pradesh circle, Mr R.Balachandran, said that for many,, golf is a change from the hectic pace of business and travel. And, yet, corporate leaders and people at the top are inherently competitive and driven to excel.

The tournament will be played over 18 holes based on the `Stableford' format.

There will be prizes for individual winners and runners up in various categories, including prizes for women participants.

The event also has prizes for the longest drive and the closest to the pin among others.

Customer base: Reliance Infocomm has nearly doubled its customer base in just a year to cross the 1.3-million mark in November.

The CEO of Reliance Infocomm, Mr Balachandran, said, "There is a huge untapped market out there; it is vindicated by the growth we and other operators are witnessing, made possible with enlarged footprint, better coverage of rural areas, and accessibility to mobile services."

Reliance covers about 400 towns and 9,700 villages in the State. With handsets priced as low as Rs 2,000, mobile phone acquisition, which has become a necessity, is now affordable. This has opened up new segments in the marketplace, said Mr Balachandran said.

Mr Balachandran said increasing penetration of landlines in the country has triggered growth in broadband users.

It is provided to corporates and large complexes and will soon be offered to others as well, in a phased manner.
