Gold tops Rs 8,000-mark in domestic market

GOLD prices crossed Rs 8,000-mark on Monday. Both the precious metals prices moved up further on strong international trend despite limited buying interest.

Silver (.999 fineness) moved up by Rs 210 to Rs 13,365 per kg. Pure gold prices moved up by Rs 175 to Rs 8,145 for 10 gram. Standard mint prices were higher at Rs 8,100 for 10 gm.

CHENNAI: Bar silver Rs 14,300 a kg; retail silver Rs 15.30 a gm; standard gold Rs 8,160 for 10 gm; 22-carat ornament gold Rs 756 a gm.

KOLKATA: Silver ready Rs 13,150 a kg; Standard gold Rs 8,200 for 10 gm.
