OVL-built pipeline dedicated to people of Sudan

THE 741-km-long multi-product pipeline built by ONGC Videsh Ltd (OVL) was dedicated to the people of Sudan by Mr Salva Kiir Mayardit, the first Vice-President, Government of Sudan, on Saturday at a formal ceremony at Khartoum Refinery, Khartoum, Sudan.

A company statement released here said that the multi-product pipeline system is the maiden overseas EPC venture of OVL, the wholly owned subsidiary of ONGC. OVL successfully completed the pipeline project linking Khartoum Refinery to Port Sudan in 14 months, against the contractual schedule of 16 months, the company said.

The pipeline is designed to transport motor spirit, gas oil and white products such as kerosene and fuel oil. The project, financed by OVL, has a contract price of $194 million. The Ministry of Energy and Mining, Government of Sudan shall make repayments to OVL, over a period of nine years in 18 half yearly equated instalments, the company said. The first instalment was due on December 30, the company said.
