Hyderabad-Teheran direct flights to be launched

Hyderabad , Dec. 13

AFTER New Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi, it is Hyderabad that finds a place in Iran's plans for launching direct flights to Teheran.

While Delhi and Kochi are connected by Mahan Airlines, Iran Air operates a direct flight to Mumbai.

Mr Ali Hashemi, Vice-President of Iranian Tourism Affairs Department, said his country was keen to launch a direct flight to Hyderabad. "Though some other airlines offer connectivity to Tehran, they are not the direct ones. A direct flight will benefit the people," he said.

Addressing reporters here on Monday, he said both the Andhra Pradesh Government and Iran had proposed that there should be direct connectivity to the Iranian capital.

He said Iran would conduct fam (familiarisation) tours that would help throw light on the rich cultural and historical sites there.

To give a push to tourism, Iran had launched a series of meetings with travel and tour operators. "We are going to organise an important meeting (of travel and tour operators) to finalise special packages," he said.
