Qatar Airways to operate more flights to India

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Dec. 14

QATAR Airways has increased the number of flights to India by almost 50 per cent, the airlines' Area Manager, Mr Naveen Chawla, said.

The increase in flights, however, is for a limited period. The extra flights are being operated by Qatar Airways under the open sky policy of the Indian Government that allows foreign airlines to operate both additional flights and fly larger aircraft.

During the open sky period, the airline that normally operates a daily flight to Mumbai will fly twice a day between Mumbai and Doha till March 25 next year.

In addition, Qatar Airways has announced that it will operate a daily flight to Hyderabad and Kochi till January 31 next year. Normally, the airline operates four times a week to Hyderabad and five times a week to Kochi.

The airline also decided to use a larger aircraft on the daily flight that it operates to Thiruvananthapuram.

Qatar Airways is keen to not only increase flights to the existing five cities that it operates to in India but will also consider flying to more points here, Mr Chawla, said.
