AP to showcase business avenues in each district

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Dec. 14

THE State Government has charted out a strategy to showcase district-wise investment opportunities in all the 23 districts during the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas slated for January 2006.

This is aimed at educating people about the development initiatives and investment climate in the State and to draw the attention of the Non-Resident Telugu delegates at the fourth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) in Hyderabad to be held between January 7-9, 2006.

Disclosing this, the Chief Minister Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who reviewed the progress of arrangements for the event, emphasised the need to coordinate with the Prime Minister's Office and Government of India agencies to prepare an action plan to ensure success of this international event and pave way for attracting investments.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office, Dr Reddy suggested that the coordination committee meeting should be organised shortly with the officials of the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and the Government of India.

With FICCI as institutional partner, the three-day event is expected to act as a forum to take various institutional initiatives forward. The PBD-06 would provide a platform to 3,000 delegates, including 2,000 overseas delegates.

Apart from interaction with overseas Indians, the event will host two exhibitions with one focussing on the social and economic development of the State and the other highlighting the exciting projects and sectors for investment.
