FTZs vs cartels

The article `More gains in cartels than free trade zones' (Business Line, December 15), explains how India can make big gains if it formed cartels with countries having similar resources.

In theory this may sound good. But it needs lots of ground-work among the respective countries.

In fact, the FTZs could bring in a better understanding of problems before developing countries and emerge as powerful blocs to take on the developed world.
