Equity concerns

This is with reference to the story `Small investors dogged by dud shares: Survey' (Business Line, November 29).

To bring back the small investors who lost heavily by subscribing to the public issues of vanished/de-listed/not-traded companies into equity the market, the Finance Minister may consider amending the Income-Tax Rules to treat such equity subscription as long-term capital loss which can be adjusted against long-term capital gains without restricting the same to any time limit.
