`Roads near NMPT being repaired'

MANGALORE: The national highway adjoining the New Mangalore Port, which is in poor condition due to the movement of overloaded iron ore lorries, will be repaired soon, according to the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Dr H.V. Parswanath.

Addressing members of the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in Mangalore , he said that the National Highways Authority of India is converting the 35 km of New Mangalore-B.C. Road stretch of the national highway as a four-lane road at a cost of Rs 167 crore.

Meanwhile, steps have also been initiated to repair the badly damaged roads near the port.
