Winged visitor

A white-backed vulture (Gyps bengalensis), an endangered species, kept in the conference room of the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) for onward shipment to the breeding centre at Pinjore of the BNHS. The bird with a wing span of around six feet, was picked up at Chiplun with the help of Bhau Katdare, who along with the society, is working hard to keep the species alive.
