Dutch Consul seeks greater co-operation with Indian business

Our Bureau

Coimbatore , Dec. 19

WHILE offering to help in strengthening business relationships between India and the Netherlands in the logistics space, the Consul-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr Hans Ramaker, has invited members of the CII, Coimbatore Zone, to team up with their Dutch counterparts for mutual co-operation.

Hailing the industrial development in this part of the country during his visit to Tirupur, Mr Ramaker observed that the workforce knew its job compared to Amsterdam where "we depend on the manpower pool from Turkey."

Making a brief mention of the change in the Indian market, he sought the help of the business community in ironing out the difficulties here.

The total bilateral trade between the two countries increased by 156.8 per cent in the ten years up to 2002. The balance of trade has been in favour of India since 1992. Cumulative Dutch investments in India, especially in the telecom, services, trading, food processing, and chemical sectors, have grown by $1.37 billion.
