SBI staff stage hunger strike

ENTIRE members of the central committees of the State Banks' Staff Union (SBSU) and SBI Officers' Association (SBIOA) went on a hunger strike on Monday in protest against the `faulty and hasty implementation of core banking' in SBI Kerala Circle.

The activists shouted slogans of `Solve core banking blues, save mass banking' as Mr C. Jayan Babu, Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram, inaugurated the proceedings in front of the SBI Local Head Office here.

Mr S. Vinayachandran, President, SBIOA, presided over the session. Among those who spoke on the occasion were Mr M. Sreenath, General Secretary, SBIOA; Mr K. Raja Kurup, President, SBSU; Mr P. Sadasivan Pillai, President, Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI); Mr Sreeraj of the All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA) and Mr P.V. Jose, State Secretary, BEFI.
