Bangalore , Dec. 19

FUJITSU has announced its entry into India with a sales office in Bangalore. This Japanese multinational with revenues of $45 billion offers software services, IT and telecom products.

In India, it will offer servers, enterprise storage products as well as `lifestyle' laptops and tablet PCs.

Fujitsu India will strengthen its distribution and after-sales support network by enlarging its base of channel partners in the country. It will sell mainframes and Intel-based servers running on Linux and SPARC-based Unix servers.

"We are targeting 5 per cent of the IT server market in two years," said Mr Choi Chee Kong, Regional Group Senior Vice-President, Corporate and Government, Fujitsu Asia. "Asia-Pacific contributes 7 per cent of revenue, and we expect to grow this market share by strengthening our India operations," he added. Target verticals include telecom, finance and retail.

Fujitsu's software services business makes $20 billion in revenues. It will enter the outsourced software services market in India. Mr Choi said a study team was in the country, researching on the Indian market. The company may start a centre with seats in Bangalore and other parts of India, said Mr Choi . They would service global customers, since "many MNCs are here."

Fujitsu recently invested $22 million in a platforms solution centre in Shanghai. The company has no immediate plans for an R&D centre in the city. Its ASEAN headquarters is in Singapore.

Products also include the Lifebook series of notebook computers and the Esprimo series of desktop and tablet PCs.
