Bangalore , Dec. 20

HONEYWELL India is targeting $1-billion in revenues by 2010. Currently, revenues are around $300 million and the company expects to make $500 million by the end of the next calendar year.

"Our growth will be substantially organic," said Mr Ashwani Gupta, Country Manager and Managing Director, Honeywell India. "Product exports will contribute to 20 per cent of the $1-billion revenue in 2010," he added.

He was speaking to reporters at a Technology Forum organised by the company.

Honeywell showcased latest products such as Spectra Fiber at the Forum.

This is a special type of polyethylene material that is stronger than steel and yet light. "This can be used for protecting military and police personnel. It is also used to reinforce cockpit doors," said Mr Gupta.

Dr Krishna Mikkilineni, Vice-President and Managing Director, Honeywell Technology Solutions Lab, India, spoke about micro and nanoscale products, used in navigation.

"GPS navigation products, used by the aviation industry, will appear in cars in three years," he said.

The lab is also working on air and water purification products as well as ground proximity warning system, used by airplanes. His colleague, Mr Yalla Veera Prakash, spoke about creating a next generation network with ambient intelligence. "In two years, products that enable this will appear," he said.

Mr Prakash also said that advanced diagnostics (prognostics) will help low-cost airlines that are mushrooming in India. 3,000 scientists in Bangalore have contributed 70 patents this year, he told Business Line.
