President's blueprint

President Kalam has given a blueprint for an election scenario to elucidate the impact that e-governance can have.

This can be implemented only if all government departments and institutions are inter-connected. Once this is done, the election officer can verify the candidate's credentials from the national citizen identity database.

Specially designed software could analyse the candidate's credentials and come out with a rating on how successful a politician he or she will be. It would also be possible for people to vote from home and that could help greater participation.

The blueprint is ambitious and could be developed if the government has the will.
