`Expats' needs to get priority'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy, has said that the needs of the expatriate Keralites will get priority treatment from the Government.

He said this while laying the foundation stone for the `Norka' (Non-Resident Keralite Affairs Department) Centre here on Wednesday.

The Centre had agreed in principle with the State Government's proposal to enrol expats on the voters' list and grant them permission to exercise their franchise while visiting home. Efforts are already under way to create the necessary legal framework.
