HYDERABAD: The 12th edition of All-India Crafts mela would be held from December 23 to January 10. Jointly organised by the Andhra Pradesh Government and the Union Ministry of Textiles, the mela will be held at Shilparamam at Madhapur. To be inaugurated by Ms Sabitha Indra Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Mines, Geology, Infrastructure and Investment, the expo would showcase products and skills of over 630 artisans, representing traditional handicrafts from across the country. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Ms J. Geetha Reddy, Minister for Sugar, Major Industries and Tourism, said the mela coincided with the Pravas Bharathiya Divas, scheduled for the first week of January. She said the organisers expected to record sales to the tune of Rs 10 crore during the mela. The Tanjavur-based South Zone Cultural Centre would focus on three folk forms - Tangta from Manipur; Bihu (West Bengal) and Goomer from Rajasthan - during the mela. Besides, several other folk and traditional dance forms from different parts of the country will be presented.
