Precious metals gain on global trend

PRECIOUS metals improved on the local bullion market on Friday in line with firm overseas market and fresh buying interest.

Silver (.999 fineness) moved up by Rs 75 at Rs 12,405 a kg over previous close on some buying. Pure gold prices also moved up Rs 110 to Rs 7,465 for 10 gm on higher overseas market. Standard mint prices were higher at Rs 7,425 for 10 gm, also up by Rs 110.

CHENNAI: Bar silver Rs 13,225 a gm; retail silver Rs 14.15 a gm; standard gold Rs 7,495 for 10 gm; 22-carat ornament gold Rs 694 a gm.
