Survey finds ATMs are under-utilised in Hyderabad

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Dec. 23

A MAJORITY of ATM (Automated Teller Machine) users in Hyderabad, like elsewhere, use the machines mostly for cash withdrawals. Not many of them use the machines for other purposes such as dropping cheques.

About 80 per cent of the respondents to a survey recently felt that they wouldn't mind using the machines for cheque deposits provided banks deployed the new intelligent deposit technology (with scanned cheque image as receipt).

Interestingly, Hyderabad led the way in the country in cheque deposit transactions at ATMs.

The nationwide survey was conducted by AC Nielsen ORG-MARG for NCR Corporation, an ATM vendor.
