E-Governance AP CM flags off project to integrate land records Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Dec 23 THE Andhra Pradesh Government has initiated work on the Integrated Land Information System (ILIS), which facilitates maintaining a digital record of title deeds. This would cover properties across rural and urban areas, encompassing agricultural, residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Such a facility would ensure absolute title security. The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, today flagged off a flight of the National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) marking the launch of the resurvey operations on a pilot basis for Nizamabad district using aerial photogrammetry. NRSA will fly its aircraft, fitted with cameras, over Nizamabad district in three phases for generating photo data of the district. These would be processed and prints taken for ground verification of boundaries with farmers. The Survey and Settlement Commissioner, Mr Vinod Agarwal, said that the entire data would be preserved in digital format and all transactions would get updated automatically. The data thus created would be maintained in a central repository and provided with multi-point access. The Government plans to achieve absolute title security by creating a register of conclusive titles. The Government decided to replace the deed registration format by the title registration system to ensure that only legal title owners would be able to make transactions. The Chief Minister said that the introduction of ILIS was necessitated to avoid complications that were cropping up due to bogus registration deeds after the scrapping of the village administration system. Once completed, ILIS would ensure that only genuine landowners would be able to have a say in the matters pertaining to their properties. The Government is planning to create a single dedicated agency that would create, maintain, and deliver all property-related services. The ILIS project, launched for Nizamabad on a pilot basis, will be extended to other districts by 2008.
