Ahmedabad , Dec. 24

JUNAGADH Dairy, a sick farmers' cooperative that was recently revived by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), was formally dedicated on Saturday by the Union Agriculture Minister, Mr Sharad Pawar.

NDDB had been nominated by the Gujarat Government to revive sick cooperatives and the Junagadh Dairy is the first step by NDDB towards formation of Milk Producer Institutions (MPIs).

NDDB had invested Rs 10 crore to refurbish the milk procurement and marketing infrastructure of the Junagadh Dairy, an NDDB press release issued here said.

The MPIs will catalyse the new generation cooperative movement and are being organised as village-level entities.

Farmer members will have access to a stable, transparent and reliable milk procurement system offering fair prices, according to the release.
