Bank credit up Rs 14,948 crore

GROSS bank credit increased by Rs 14,948 crore for the fortnight ended December 9, 2005 to touch Rs 13,20,808 crore according to Reserve Bank of India's Weekly Statistical Supplement.

Food credit increased by Rs 1,144 crore to touch Rs 43,599 crore and non-food credit increased by Rs 13,804 crore to Rs 12,77,209 crore.

Total accommodation provided by scheduled commercial banks to the commercial sector in the form of bank credit and investments in shares, debentures, bonds and commercial paper was at Rs 13,57,249 crore.
