Rubber Rubber continues to gain on short-supply Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Dec. 26 THE week opened with firm quotations in physical rubber prices. Main marketing centres continued to experience short supply, while covering groups and purchase agents were active in selected grades. Sellers kept a low profile, expecting enhanced offers from major manufacturers. Sheet rubber improved to Rs 71.50 and Rs 72 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 71 a kg on Saturday. The rubber futures showed a mixed trend on the NMCE. The January contract was quoted at Rs 72.73 ( 72.91), February contract at Rs 74.19 ( 74.07), March contract at Rs 75.12 ( 75.07) and April contract at Rs 76.13 ( 76.30) per kg for RSS 4. The volumes till noon were dull at 812 lots, trading 412 lots in January, 228 in February, 122 in March and 50 in April. The February contract for RSS 4 was quoted at Rs 73.99 against Rs 73.96 a kg on MCX. RSS 3 improved to Rs 76.95 from Rs 76.67 a kg at Bangkok. The January futures for RSS 3 declined to 198.1 yen from 200.3 ye a kg at TOCOM. Spot prices a kg were: RSS-4 : 71.50 (71); RSS-5: 69 (69); ungraded: 67.50 (67); ISNR 20: 69 (69); and latex 60% : 50 (49.50).
