Coming soon, floating ayurveda centres

Our Bureau

Kochi , Dec. 28

THE Thrissur-based Ayuryogashram, an Ayurvedic resort, is launching a houseboat equipped to provide various Ayurveda treatments on board to tourists.

Named `Ayur Nauka', this is the first `floating ayurvedic resort' in the country, officials of Ayuryogashram claimed here.

The Ayur Nauka is fully air-conditioned. It is equipped with a massage parlour, a steam bath, and a doctor's room to provide therapies to tourists, said Mr M.P.K Nair, founder of Ayuryogashram, at a press conference here.

The vessel will have two doctors on board. Initially, only rejuvenation therapies will be offered on board, he said.

The cost of seven to 21 days of cruise and Ayurvedic treatment has not yet been worked out, but Mr Nair said it could be in the region of Rs 5,000-6,000 a day plus the treatment charges.

He claimed that Ayur Nauka will have the longest cruise from Kochi to Kollam, covering the entire backwater expanses of Kerala.

Tourists will be given the provision to check in and out at any place en-route.

More routes are also being considered to give more option to tourists.

Ayur Nauka was constructed at an investment of Rs 25-30 lakh, Mr Nair said.
