Newgen completes Kenyan project

L.N. Revathy

Coimbatore , Dec. 28

AFTER successfully installing its Omni product suite - comprising OmniFlow, OmniDocs, OmniReports, OmniCapture and OmniExtract — in the Kenya Airways contract, Newgen Software Technologies is confident of signing up more deals in the coming days.

Newgen started the Kenya Airways installation with 120 concurrent users and scaled it up to 2,500 users across the organisation over a 12-month period. "All the users have had a feel of the system, though the use varies between frequent to infrequent in select installation points," Mr Diwaker Nigam, Managing Director, Newgen Software, told Business Line.

Stating that this was the first mega airline project for the company, he said the challenge was in automating and integrating the entire business process.

"We have implemented 15 processes and integrated five of their back-end workflow."

The processes implemented include purchase process for purchase of stock items and capital expenditure items, expenditure process such as non-orders, prepayments and order mismatches, HR process including airline rebate and leave process, airline hotel voucher generation process, commercial stores processes such as raising and approval of stock requisitions using stores issue voucher and other administrative processes such as IT service request, document generation etc.

He said Newgen's process modeller was used to configure Kenya Airways' business processes for existing applications.

The cost of investment on this BPM solution has been estimated at $750,000.
