Deposit mobilisation by Dakshina Kannada banks

MANGALORE: Banks in Dakshina Kannada district crossed a business level of Rs 11,044 crore as on September 2005.

As many as 350 branches of 45 banks in the district mobilised deposits of Rs 7,061 crore and advanced Rs 3,983 crore during the period.

A press release by the lead bank of the district, Syndicate Bank, said here that issues related to banking development were discussed at the District Consultative Committee and district-level Review Committee meetings here on Thursday.

The banks in the district lent Rs 309 crore to farmers in the first six months of the fiscal against the annual target of Rs 393 crore. Mr A. Gopal, Lead District Manager, welcomed the gathering. Mr G. L. Vittal, Deputy Secretary of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, presided over the meeting.
