Digital summit next month

INDUSTRY trade organisation Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) will host the "Digital Summit 2006'' on January 17 & 18 in Mumbai.

The two-day summit will focus on areas such as the role of the Internet in the Indian economy; issues and growth opportunities of the broadband access, the retail power of the Web and the growth prospects of the online marketplace.

A 54-per cent increase in Internet usage has been noted at the end of the year. The reliance on e-commerce has reached a high of Rs 1,180 crore, said a release issued by IAMAI, an organisation whose members include companies that are actively engaged in publishing, marketing and advertising using Internet and wireless as interactive mediums.
