Announcements Markets - Investment Banking Worbus forays into investment banking Our Bureau
Pune , Dec. 31 THE Pune-based Worbus Management Consultants Ltd has launched investment banking services in India. With a fund access of more than $150 million for India for 2006, it intends to invest in the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector. Mr George Molakkal, International Director, said in a statement that Worbus would be placing private equity funds in SMEs in high-growth sectors. SMEs in India depended on debt to fund their growth. Funds from private equity investors, venture capital and the like would be invested through direct equity participation in SME segments. This would reduce the debt burden and help them to be competitive in their pricing strategies and reduce overall business risk, he said. Worbus had also tied up with leading local investment bankers in India on a collaborative model to offer SMEs the best services, he said. Worbus is a business growth management consultancy that specialises in joint ventures and strategic alliances. Besides India, it has presence in the UK, the US, Canada, China, and West Asia.
