TVS Srichakra gets energy conservation award

TVS Srichakra Ltd, Madurai, has received the first prize for energy conservation in the tyre industry category for 2005 awarded by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Government of India, according to a press release from the company.

The President, Mr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, handed over the Energy Conservation Award 2005 to the company's President-Business Development, Mr P. Vijayaraghavan, in New Delhi.

The company achieved 50 per cent savings in thermal energy and electrical energy during 2002-05 and plans to save an additional 20 per cent thermal energy and 10 per cent electrical energy, according to the release.

TVS Srichakra is a leading tyre manufacturer with a capacity to produce 90 lakh tyres and tubes a year. It caters to the two- and three-wheeler segments and supplies to the original equipment manufacturers and to the after-market. It also exports agricultural, industrial and OTR tyres to the US, Europe, Australia and West Asia.
