New Delhi , Dec. 31

IN a move aimed at decongesting air traffic at the six metro airports, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has announced a 50 per cent reduction in the night parking charges that airlines will be charged at major non-metro airports.

An official statement issued by the AAI states that the concession will be available from January 1, and will apply for parking of aircraft between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. It will be available at most major non-metro airports except those at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

The Government decided to offer this concession as there is a severe shortage of space at most metro airports and airlines request for starting early morning flights from there were being turned down.
