Funds' backing seen in Indraprastha Medical

INDRAPRASTHA Medical has begun to witness accumulation in view of institutional and other big players' renewal of attention towards mid- and small-cap stocks.

The stock recorded a traded volume of 2.72 lakh shares on the BSE against the fortnightly average of 1.13 lakh shares on the exchange. In terms of price, the stock finished with a gain of 4.16 per cent at Rs 42.6 after touching the day's high at Rs 43.10. Since December 26, the stock has gained 13.6 per cent.

According to market sources, this 1,000-bed outfit of Apollo group of hospitals is among the list of targets of investors in the healthcare space for being relatively low priced in the market.

Betting on profit growth

HALDYN Glass sparkled on the market on expectation of improvement in its profitability following installation of a captive power plant. The glass manufacturing company, being power-dependent, is sensitive to power cost.

According to market sources, the company has reaped the benefit of cost cut in the third quarter of 2005-06 as the power unit came in operation in September last year. The stock gained 4.32 per cent to close at Rs 60.40. The traded volume though higher than its average on the bourse, is, however, yet to take off to a new buzz level.

Up on new initiatives

SREI Infrastructure Finance is witnessing increasing institutional interests. The stock on Monday closed with a gain of 4.03 per cent at Rs 65.80 with 6.56 lakh shares changing hands on the BSE. According to market sources, the stock has been witnessing sustained interest of late because of its growth in activity and its expansion into newer areas of infrastructure.
