VAT compensation claims of Bihar, Sikkim settled

THE Finance Ministry has settled the compensation claims made by Bihar and Sikkim for the loss in tax revenues arising from implementation of State-level value-added tax (VAT).

While Bihar received compensation of Rs 14 crore, the other State that had recently received compensation was Sikkim (Rs 2 crore). So far, the Centre has disbursed Rs 1,317 crore towards compensation for tax revenue loss arising from VAT implementation.
