Rubber Rubber rules firm on covering purchases Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Jan. 3 THE rubber market turned almost steady on Tuesday. Covering purchases on sheet rubber kept it slightly firm at Rs 71.25 against Rs 71 a kg both at Kottyam and Kochi while the remaining grades including latex were quoted flat with a decline in volumes. According to market circles, traders are waiting for revised quotations from major manufactures and any positive signal from them will trigger another uptrend in prices. Selling from small dealers due to financial shortage was moderately visible in the main marketing centres. NMCE January contract was quoted at Rs 72.15 (Rs 72.09), February at Rs 74.17 (Rs 74.03 ) March at Rs 75.20 (Rs 75.24) and April at Rs 76.60 (rs 76.45 ) per kg for RSS 4. The January contract for RSS 4 was traded at Rs 72 (Rs 71.68) a kg on MCX. Domestic prices a kg were: RSS-4: Rs 71.25 (Rs 71); RSS-5: Rs 69.25 (Rs 69.25); ungraded: Rs 67 (Rs 67); ISNR 20: Rs 68.50 (Rs 68.50); and latex 60%: Rs 50 (Rs 50).
