Kolkata, Jan. 3

THE packet tea business of Eveready Industries India Ltd is likely to register a 35-40 per cent growth in the current financial year, 2005-06, against the previous year.

According to Mr Deepak Khaitan, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Eveready, the company would be selling around 7,500 tonnes. In terms of value, the annual turnover from this division would be Rs 80 crore.

Eveready, a late entrant in this sector, has four packet tea brands, which are Tez, Jaago, Premium Gold and Classic. These products were launched about three to four years back.

"Packet tea is an extremely difficult sector. Apart from major players such as Levers, Tata Tea and Goodricke, there are a number of small and regional players. Gaining market share is really tough," he said.
