New Delhi , Jan. 4

MOBILE handset manufacturer Sony Ericsson on Wednesday announced the expansion of its nationwide sales distribution network by adding Ingram Micro as the second national distribution partner along with Salora International.

Ingram Micro till now was operating only in the eastern and western markets for Sony Ericsson.

Post this expansion Sony Ericsson will have a presence in more than 15,000 retail outlets. Mr Sudhin Mathur, General Manager, Sony Ericsson, India said, "With the enhanced portfolio of products across segments that we have to offer from the start of 2006, now is the right time to consolidate and further on the inroads we made into the booming market last year. This tie-up is aimed at taking the next step towards making a Sony Ericsson handset available to even the farthest consumer in the country. The expansion would help us gain increased market presence and would lead to a wider purchase choice for the end consumer."

Sony Ericsson will now operate through these two national distributors apart from their tie-up with Sony India, which provides presence in the retail network of Sony Worlds, and Sony Exclusive stores.
