CHENNAI: Karur Vysya Bank (KVB) has launched mobile banking services through SMS. The new service enables savings and current account-holders to view account information such as balance, transaction status and cheque status by sending SMS to the bank.

They can also request for chequebook, issue stop-payment on cheques and make enquiry on their term deposit status. All these services will be provided free of cost.

The customer can also register for SMS alerts for debit/credit transactions above a predetermined amount for which service charge of Rs 1 per alert will be levied. As an introductory offer, the bank is offering these alerts free till March.
