Barista Coffee plans Rs 25-cr expansion

BARISTA Coffee Company Ltd (BCCL) has chalked out a major expansion plan involving an investment of over Rs 25 crore during the current year to set up around 40 new Barista Espresso Bars and Espresso Corners and five new concept stores called Barista Crème, its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Partha Dattagupta, said.

The company plans to take the total network to around 170 outlets by the year-end from the present 130.

Mr Dattagupta was addressing newspersons ahead of opening the company's second Barista Crème outlet in the country here on Wednesday.

He said that the company proposed to increase its presence in the South this year.

The premium cafe Barista Crème offers a wider range of food and beverages, apart from luxurious comfort, Mr Dattagupta said. Stating that the company's revenue mix currently comprised 30 per cent from food and 70 per cent from coffee, he said the Barista Crème outlets aimed to increase revenue contribution from food.

The company plans to set up Barista Crème outlets in Mumbai, Bangalore and Indore this year.
