Retailing Piramyd Retail opens megastore in Delhi Our Bureau
New Delhi , Jan. 6 PIRAMYD Retail Ltd announced the launch of its first megastore in the Capital on Friday. It has planned five stores to be opened in Delhi NCR over the next five years. Promoted as a "family entertainment space," the store will have a TruMart (mart stocking food, groceries and personal care products) and a gaming zone. The company is also planning to add its private label of foods and personal care products to its retail offering. "A two-phase approach has been adopted for retailing our own labels of food and personal healthcare products. In the first stage, we would be focussing on food items like grocery, grains and dry fruits and in the second phase we would look to retail our labels of personal care products," Piramyd Retail Ltd, CEO and Managing Director, Mr Krish Iyer said. He added that private labels including apparels could contribute almost 20 to 25 per cent of the total sales of the company by 2008-09. "It will take another year and a half for us to get into retailing of our private food labels," he said. Currently, the company has about ten private labels in the apparels segment. The company has seven Piramyd Megastores and 11 TruMart supermarkets spanning across Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Ahmedabad, Ludhiana and Nagpur.
